My story

MaryWolfWhitmire_CalmDownBabySleep_4

I'm Mary! Nice to meet you!

I live in Los Angeles with my husband, Matt, and our 2 year old  son, Wally (or as we like to call him, Wallybear!) I’ve lived here for 12 years now, but I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and lived in Chicago for a good while too! I love cooking, decorating my home, and spending time outside in the California sunshine!

How I Got Here

My journey as a Sleep Consultant began when I had my own baby, Wally. I was co-sleeping with my newborn, and it felt like he wouldn’t sleep unless he was attached to me. Consequently, I found myself running on very little sleep while dealing with raging postpartum hormones. I did lots of research on the internet, bought a bunch of different books, and asked my family and friends who had the experience of having a newborn–all to find out how I could get my life back on track.

Everywhere I turned, there seemed to be different (and often competing) kinds of advice, methods, and ideas about what to do and how to do it. It was honestly overwhelming. One morning, I collapsed into tears on our bed with my baby screaming in my ears. At that point, I knew I had hit rock bottom and that there had to be a better way.

Determined to make a change, I finally found the help of an honest expert by working with a Sleep Sense Consultant. She calmed my anxieties and helped me find my footing as a new parent. I finally had an understanding of what I could realistically expect from my baby for his age, and I was no longer struggling to get him to sleep. By the time my son was 4 months old, he was sleeping through the night for 12 to 13 hours. Amazing!

It was such a powerful, successful, and joyous experience that it led me to start blabbing to every new mom I knew about how to get their baby to sleep! After helping several of my own friends, I realized I had found my new calling.

My Sleep Philosophy

I’m here for parents who understand the importance of making their own mental health a priority and how that impacts the relationships within their family, household, and everyday life.

What I'm About

Offering judgment-free support and a step-by-step plan to help you reach a custom-tailored goal that meets your family’s specific needs.

What I'm Not About

A one-size-fits-all approach, unrealistic expectations, and leaving your baby to “cry it out” alone at night.

Need a Hand?

I’m certified with SleepSense, one of only five programs recognized by the Association of Professional Sleep Consultants, as a pediatric sleep consultant.

I know how difficult it can feel to ask for help, but working with a sleep consultant myself when I had my son really made my parenting experience so much better. It was a comfort to have the guidance and support of a professional. And, afterwards, I felt so much more equipped to handle any problems that came up in the future.

Let’s work together to figure out a solution that works for you and your baby.
